True Story

Funny Story

So... I've got pics to go with this (coming soon) but I just wanted to tell this one while it's still fresh. So... Louise and I are hitchhiking across Northern Ontario right? And this guy in a huge station wagon pulls over, the car full of gear and such. He asks us how far West we're going, and we say 'All the way!' and he says 'Me too, and you guys have a guitar?'

'Yeah.'

'I've got a fiddle!' He says.

'You busking too?' We go.

'YEAH!!!' He says. He plays Celtic fiddle.

We put some guitar and drums together with said fiddle and; long story short, two days later we hit Winnipeg and land a three-day gig at a Theater, under the (silly) name of 'The Funny Bones' (we're really not that funny)... and make a truckload of money and have fun doing it.

We performed for roughly 200 people all three nights, as well as made it up on a mic-stage at a Fringe Festival outdoor venue for a couple songs. Jeremy is a 22 year old guy who just finished school to become a Music Teacher in high school, so to say that he taught us A LOT about playing together and performing (my first time performing for more than two or three people) is an understatement.

Within the six days we hung out as a group we quickly became family and friends too. Now that Lou and I are at my parents house, Jeremy continued on to Canmore to frame houses with his cousin, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other again. The Funny Bones reunion tour? Could be a great summer of '09.

Next events; a week-long canoe trip with my brother while Louise goes out to BC to sit a course.

Love.
