Yukon - September 2009
Whitehorse, Yukon River (flowing north to), Dawson City.
I traveled up to the beautiful Yukon during the last week of August, and stayed for a month. For two weeks I met people, busked, and worked in Whitehorse, and began preparing to rent a kayak for the trip to Dawson. One day I was sitting outside of a cafe, talking to a guy in his early 20's. I told him of my plans, and he said 'Hell, man! I have a kayak in my back yard! Just bring it back!'
So, we carried the boat to the river, I loaded it up with food and supplies, and sat in a kayak for the first time in my life! (Don't worry, I have lots of experience in the bush.) I set off, solo, but as you can see I met lots of awesome people on the river. The trip was 650kms, and it took me two weeks. And, hitchhiking back with the boat proved fairly easy, and fun!
